Body

  • Woke up feeling really lethargic/groggy, but the cat yowling at and clawing at my door compelled me to get out of bed and snuggle them for a bit, after which I actually had the alertness to face the day.
  • After snuggling the cat for a bit I took my caffeine pills and made myself a protein shake. At some point, I don’t remember if it was before or after that I got dressed and then went to the washroom to shave.
  • After doing all that and then killing time for a little bit on the internet, I started to feel that characteristic feeling of wanting to be anywhere else other than home, so I left for Ascension to sit down with my laptop for a while. Ascenscion proved to be a pretty chill spot aside from the front door groaning in sorrow everytime it was opened/closed, and the fact that my server took forever to give me my tab when I really had to take a shit. But all’s well that end’s well.
  • Left Ascension for work at around 1350 or so, got to work around 1400. Now I’m just killing time before my shift.
  • Finished ImoSae Vol 3 last night and this afternoon. About to start Vol 4 now. I’m gonna be pissed if I get interrupted while trying to read it during my downtime at work.

Brainstorming

  • Been thinking more about some of the ideas that I came up with on 20260805, specifically with regards to the nature of a person’s uniqueness or personal nature vs the roles that they’re forced to play in life. Perhaps something like honne vs tatemae, except reducing tatemae into a codified roster of characters1.
    • How do we reconcile the fact that there’s a finite amount of characters to play? Perhaps to zany servant characters, other servant characters are deuteroganists or fellow main characters, but to their masters they’re all background characters. Explore this manner of perspective more.
    • How do we give people outlets and the freedom to let their true selves bleed through their masks without consequence; can it ever truly be done without consequences?
      • Gaming, board games, card games, TTRPGs, etc. allows for people to show a side of themselves that maybe would be otherwise invisible.
        • Drinking for sure. Symposiums and barhopping.
        • Shared fantasies, creative endeavours or projects. Perhaps writers baring their hearts through their writing. Awkward topics or conversations coming up while redlining and critiquing each other’s works.
  • I’m interested in layering narratives like this. The objective reality, subjective experiences, dreams, and fantasies; together these things comprise actual Reality, which seems to be far less objective than we assume it to be.
