Long Dream
I saw a swan descending from the blue
Providence in the shape of a mother.
Can people ever truly understand
each other, while blinded by their burdens?
When Prince Rupert awakes, who will follow?
The masses stubbornly squeeze their pillows,
while the world collapses around them
who can say if they're truly in the wrong?
Have you heard the siren call of Chandra?
"All those lonely among you come hither!"
Those who approach the palace of the moon
are always met with disillusionment--
Then finally so long to the long dream
Americans crawling from the ruins
so many blindly skittering about
hoping to find a glimpse of what comes next
Big Thicket
In the eyes of the Caprine Prince I saw:
Leaves of maple dancing in profusion;
The waterfall, auburn, crimson, orange
during the day always undefeated.
& then every night: The Harvest Moon
Where all the men swing their sickles and scythes
singing cheerfully as they do their work
with the children and dogs howling in play
An idyllic landscape frozen in time
a poem hidden in the prince's sighs
of a land in which no one ever dies
